The Marine & Maritime sectors are helping to drive growth in jobs and training in the Liverpool City Region – and the Wirral wants to play its part. With the renaissance of the Port of Liverpool through Peel Ports’ £400 million investment in Liverpool2, the city region is changing, and we want to change with it.
Liverpool is reclaiming use of its maritime capabilities: now the Wirral is doing the same. Already the world-famous RSS Sir David Attenborough is being built at Cammell Laird in Birkenhead, and a 1 million sq ft waterside manufacturing campus known as MEA Park (Marine, Energy & Automotive) is being built to target the Maritime and Energy sectors. The Maritime Knowledge Hub is a joint venture with Wirral Council, Liverpool John Moores University and Mersey Maritime, seeking to expand knowledge, skills, training and commerce in the Maritime sectors.
